Food and clothes moths

Moths are flying insects closely related to butterflies. They can be found in many different shapes and sizes. Unlike butterflies, moths have more earthy and soft colours such as brown, white, grey or black. Their wings are made of layers. Moths’ body length is up to 20 mm, although some species can reach up to 120 mm. Moth larvae resemble hairy worms. Their body consists of the head, the thorax, and the abdomen.

Your quick reaction will help you to limit the damage caused by moths. Detect the infected area and put your clothes inside a plastic bag. Seal the bag well so as the moths not to be spread around as you carry it.

Wash the contaminated clothes (without the bag, of course) and then wash the non-contaminated clothes separately. There are various commercial insecticides against moths.

However, different insecticides should be used for different types of moths. The best way for a reliable solution is to contact a specialist.

You can also use lavender as a natural moth repellent. Just place dried lavender in your wardrobe.
